Life Events

Throughout the calendar year, you may experience a “Life Event” that affects your benefits, such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, a change to your spouse’s employment or insurance coverage, or a change in coverage for a dependent child.

You have 30 days from the date of a Life Event to make a change to your benefits, by submitting a change in ADP. The effective date of your benefit change is the first of the month following the date of the actual Life Event (i.e. date of marriage or divorce). The only exception to this is Birth of a newborn, where the coverage would start the day of the date of birth.

Dependent Eligibility Verification

ADP Dependent Verification Services will verify dependent(s) and process after employee adds life event in ADP and emails Spousal Verification form to LGH Benefits team.

LG Health reserves the right to verify the eligibility qualifications of any dependent(s) submitted during an enrollment offering.

Benefit changes are sent to Capital Blue Cross (CBC), Delta Dental, Liviniti (Southern Scripts) and VSP every Monday. If you have submitted a change request after the weekly update, it will transfer the following Monday. Contact HR Benefits at LGH-Benefits@pennmedicine.upenn.edu , to discuss a benefit change that is not appearing with Capital Blue Cross (CBC), Delta Dental, Liviniti (Southern Scripts) or VSP.
